Extended Day Enrichment Program
Mission Statement
CLAP seeks to enhance our communities and enrich the lives of children in the surrounding areas by providing safe, supportive, and structured environments that support overall education, health and well-being. CLAP Afterschool offers quality educational, recreational, and cultural programs that promote the social, physical, intellectual, and emotional development of children and youth.
Structured Afterschool Program
On any afternoon of the week, visit us and you will see children from ages 5-12 years old participating in a wide variety of recreational, cultural, and educational programs. We serve children in CLAP Afterschool between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, the time when school-aged children are most in need of being in safe, supportive environments. CLAP Afterschool youth receive homework help, participate in fitness activities, and explore arts & cultural opportunities. Our Afterschool programs complement what children are learning in schools and strengthen their sense of belonging in the communities in which they live.

Academics
CLAP Afterschool youth receive academic support from the staff to complete homework and reinforce classroom learning. In addition, CLAP focuses on the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) which helps students with their CRCT testing.
Arts
CLAP Afterschool youth have the opportunity to develop their creative minds and bodies in various arts and cultural programs, led by trained professionals. Among the arts courses offered are creative writing, dance, drama, music, and visual art. In addition, CLAP Afterschool youth participate in nature tours and visits to cultural institutions, which introduce them to the breadth of resources in the area and allow them to learn in an active way.

Discipline
CLAP strongly believes in rewarding students who are striving to be model citizens. We understand that discipline starts with a structured and nurturing environment. Our coordinators pay close attention to the time that students have in the afterschool program. Each minute is filled with learning and creativity.
Students are given the opportunity to earn points in their monthly “Passports”. These “Passports” are an excellent way for teachers, parents and students to keep track of their behavior and rewards. With their “Passports”, students can get a pass for extra time on the computer, extra activity time, and a chance to participate in the Friday’s fun/special activity.
